Life Below Zero was a show about real people trying to survive in wilderness in Alaska. The grounded aspect of it was intriguing.
We have worked on 2 seasons. And we wanted embrace that aspect of the show.
For 1st season we went more metaphorical with the harsh reality of Alaska, and enviroment. Later on characters became very populer, so we kept the focus on that.

We decided to shoot the type in the ice. For a week, we tried to experiment as much as we can. We printed out bunch of type on acetate paper, and were freezing them in different shapes and scales of plastic bags and glasses. Then we shot them while the frozen ice was melting and revealing the type. We decided to shoot the type in the ice. For a week, we tried to experiment as much as we can. For the next one is all about characters. And the idea is about this intimate moment between them and this one single snow flake.
